Bird-Friendly Yards

Join University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener Holly Teig to learn about how best to support different types of birds in your backyard.  We'll explore creating habitat that attracts birds and learn how to identify the birds that visit using Merlin Bird ID. Finally, we'll talk about the challenges facing birds today - from predators to light pollution.  

Holly Teig has been an Extension Master Gardener serving Peoria County since retiring in 2020.  A life-long gardener, Holly’s horticultural passions are flowers, seed collection, home landscape design, birding, and spending time in nature.  Holly was named the 2025 Master Gardener of the Year for Peoria county.
