In celebrating David Remnick’s 2023 book, Holding the Note: Profiles in Popular Music, Dr. Melinda McBee Orzulak from Bradley University’s English department and Paul Resnick, a retired Illinois Central College English teacher, share their love of good writing and good music in this hour long presentation.  Remnick’s insights into Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Patti Smith, and Paul McCartney will be highlighted as well as samples from each musician’s corpus.  Remnick focuses on musicians whose music has withstood the test of time, whereas McBee Orzulak and Resnick share their joy of good writing and great music.
